Confessional
So, I love Halloween candy. I finally headed to Costco today to pick some up. I can't do it any sooner or I will eat the whole bag before the big day arrives. I thought adults weren't supposed to like candy, but not me. I LOVE it. That is why I so rarely buy the delicious stuff.
Well, after about a month of total insomnia, I finally invested in some sleep pills and oh, what a miracle. I have slept through the night for three days and I must say, I feel wonderful today. I got up and sorted all the laundry (and let me tell you, there is a ton). I have actually been folding it when it comes out, I made banana bread, went to costco, did the dishes. I feel like a new woman. Now I just need to get showered for the day and I will be all ready for our fun evening at Tuachan (an outdoor ampitheatre here in town) to watch "Thriller". I am so excited!! I want to actually take the time to dry my hair and dress cute since it is so rare that I get to do that anymore.
So, the big news, I guess I will spill the beans on here since most people who read my blog are either family or close friends and know anyway, but I am pregnant. Exciting, huh? It depends on the day for me. Last night it was more like sheer panic at imagining the reality of having two little ones. I think JAckson will love having a little sibling and really that is the reason that we decided to try again. I had just kind of hoped it would take a little longer to actually get pregnant. Anyway, that is the news. Now I can complain about how tired I am or that I feel sick or whatnot :).
My parents have been in Mexico for 8 days now and I think this is the longest stretch that I have gone without talking to my mom since I was on my mission. It is weird and I miss being able to talk to her. They move out here at the end of November and it will be so fun to have them close, although I will miss traveling to Santa Barbara. Seriously, where am I going to do my shopping now?
Off to shower. If I wait to long the monkey will wake up and all my grandeous plans will be out the window.

Some of the J Monkey
Jackson is such a little boy. He loves dirt and sticks and everything gross. The one picture I had to post because it is his, I am disgusted with whatever you are doing face. I get it a lot--mealtime, naptime, in the car. There is never a guess as to his feelings! We went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast this morning and he first at the crayons and then wolfed down a whole plate of food--eggs, french toast, bacon, grits and juice. He is a little piggie. He was actually semi well behaved which was a miracle. We never take him out because he is such a little stinker. He cracks my dad up with everything he does. Sometimes he will flex every muscle in his body and it is hilarious. Kids are constant entertainment when they are well rested. He also gives good kissed now. Luckily he has learned the closed mouth technique and just makes a big mmmmmmuuuuuu. It is really cute.

Another Family Picture

So, I was tagged by Kellie, another blogger, to share five weird things about myself, so here I go:
1. I often read the end of a book or read about a movie before I read or watch it. The anxiety of not knowing what happens kills me and instead of letting it affect my life, I alleviate it by cheating.
2. My desk is always a disastre. I can just ignore it, don't ask me how, but I don't even see it. You would think it was some strange organizational strategy, but no, I lose things ALL the time. It is just not my strong point.
3. I cannot stand the smell of chicken and typically I can't stand to eat it.
4. I sleep with my eyes open. Freaks people out.
5. Although I finished nursing Jackson a year ago, I wear one of my nursing bras all the time. What can I say, it is comfortable.
All right, now I will tag some people...

It finally turned out.
So, in general I think I am a good cook. I enjoy cooking and eating good food. There is, however, one method of cooking that I have struggled with...don't laugh, the crockpot. Seriously, everything I made in the crockpot was horrible. I would cook meat and potatoes and the meat would be overcooked and the potatoes hard. I know you want to ask me, how long did you cook them, high or low, etc. and let me assure =you that I would cook on low all day and things wouldn't turn out.
So, I bought a new crockpot at Costco hoping that was the problem.
Oh, I need to mention as well that I am horrible at cooking roasts. I have not figured out the tricks, even with as many as I have cooked.
So, before church today I threw a roast in with a can of coke and a few other ingredients. It cooked for eight hours. In fear I went to check it, stuck my fork in, and TADA, it just fell apart. It was a Sunday miracle.
So, I don't necessarily think this is the end of my meat catastrophes, but it is a start. I would love to figure out the CP well because it is so easy and I can prepare while I have energy to do so, in the mornings. We will see if this is the beginning of a new phase of life. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
