Gotta love em!

The other day we were (me, D and J) playing in the family room when all of a sudden Douglas farted (or tutti frutted as J would say). Out of no where Jackson says, "wait, I'll check." and proceeds over to Douglas and pulls the back of his pants out to check for poopies. It was so funny and he did the same thing later when D burped as well. Kids are so funny.

And I have to say, there is nothing so fulfilling as belly laughing with your child. You know, when they say something they think is really funny and crack up about it only to have you laugh which makes them laugh more. There is no such thing as a beaten horse when it comes to a kid and his joke. He thinks it is funny forever, as long as you keep laughing.

Who's out there???

So, after talking to a friend I think that I am going to put a password on my blog. If you would like to view my blog, leave me a comment in the next few days and I will be sure to give you my password, if not, goodbye "blurkers" (those who lurk on blogs without ever fessing up to it) as my aunt calls them.

Hey, check this out!!

So, I want to get a group of friends together to do this! I think it would be fun and so convienient. Let me know if you are interested and ask around.

an early morning post...

Okay, well it isn't THAT early, but early enough (8:30am). My little bubba is still sawing logs which is a great sign. I hope he wakes up and asks for pancakes or something for breakfast. He ate a bowl of cereal and a few peaches and bites of toast yesterday, but that is far from the typical appitite of my good little eater. We found out Sunday that he has ROTO (sp?) Virus. I guess most kids are immunized for it now, but it wasn't available when he was a baby and most kids get it before they are two anyway. Whooo, we almost missed the two year window. Boy, did we luck out. We had to post pone his bday party and he is so sad that he hasn't been able to play with his cousin, (not to mention that I have total cabin fever being at home so much!!) He is on day six of his illness, so hopefully the light at the end of the tunnel is so close I can touch it.

And we all have horrible coughs. I don't know if they are connected to what J has or just a bonus. I finally slept well last night. I took an Ambien and went down about 9pm. I got up about 8am. Let me tell you, I needed some good sleep. It has been very trying for me to deal with a really sick, onery little boy when I feel crummy, tired and hormonal. I should have had the genius idea to do this days ago.

So, the major dilemma in my life lately has to do with the ideal double stroller. It is amazing to me that no one has created one, as far as I have determined. I have come pretty close to finding one though. It is compact (the size of a jogger) which is one of my main criteria. If I put one of those huge double things in the back of my car I would have no space for anything else. This one I am looking at drives well, is kinda stylish in a stroller sort of way and I might actually use it. If any of you have any other wisdom about doubles, pass it on. I am new at this, so I am open to suggestions. The only downfall to this stroller is the price. It is pricey, but I have put a lot of thought into this issue and her is how I see it...is it better to buy the cheaper stroller that is so big and awkward that you would never use it, or invest in a more expensive on that will get used a ton. I walk a lot and JAckson is still young enough that he has to be strollered or he gets into lots of mischeif. Anywho, here is the picture of it. Let me know what your thoughts are. Oh, and I know this picture only shows the single, so here is a link that shows how the double setup works.

Did you all read about the shooting in the Trolley Square Mall? There are so many psychos in this world and how tragic for all those innocent people who were just out shopping. It doesn't seem like it is safe to go anywhere anymore!

Off to get ready for my day. It is almost 9am now and J is still sleeping.

Just a yummy recipe...

So, if I can stop coughing long enough to do this, I will. When I am stranded at home for long periods (a sick kid) I like to bake. I like to bake anyway, but especially then. And, also when the days are dreary. I tried this recipe from my sis in law out the other day and they were easy and delicious. HEre it is:

Brownie Cookies (I don't know what the actual name is)
1 brownie mix (13x9 pan size)
3/4 cup melted butter
2 eggs

Mix these together and add:

1 1/2 cup cocoa crispies
1 1/2 cup semi sweet chips
1 cup quick oats

Mix all together and bake at 350* for 9-12 minutes.

It happened again...

I don't know who to blame it on...nursery, the gym day care, or just plain old bad luck, but it happened again, we are all sick!!! Poor little Mr. J woke up Thursday morning at about one and was sort of whimpering in his crib. I went in to check on him and was overcome by the stench. Thinking he was just poopy, I went to pick him up and realized that it was everywhere--diarreah. It was such a mess! So at 1 in the morning we bathed him and I washed all his bedding in HOT water, twice. So gross. I told Douglas, though, that as weird as it sounds, I feel like a "real" mom when I have to save my baby from something like that. I would say that that was the beginning of it all, but really, to get the full effect, we must go back to Wednesday.

Wednesday was a HORRIBLE day for me and my buddy. He was so grouchy and so illbehaved. I took him to story time and before we got ten minutes into it we had gone to time out, twice and he sat on my lap yelling, "go home, time out." When he would sit in time out he wanted to snuggle with me, which I wouldn't have (come on, it's time out!!). I do nurture him at other times (and although I might be faulted for this), I feel that time out is one of those places where we don't get to be lovey. Okay, I digress. Anyway, 10 minutes into it, I had enough and we left. He was upset, I was upset and we got to the car where we both started crying. Now, if you are a frequent blog reader you might think I cry all the time, but really, I think it is a pregnancy combined with a two year old thing. That is just one senario from that day. The whole day was a struggle as I think both of us were starting to feel a little under the weather.

So, another little anecdote (is that the word?) from the day. I went over to Target after the whole storytime incident, where surprisingly JAckson was really well behaved. We both like Target, so it works out well. I decided to walk over to Pier one to see if they had some baskets for Jackson's toys (they didn't, but I found and ordered some great ones from Crate and Barrel since then). I had the cart from Target so when we got to the door this older lady (60's maybe) held the door open for us. I said "Thank you" as we walked in and then heard her say, "You could say Thank you. Didn't your mother teach you any manners?" I said, "I did say thank you." and wished I had thought of all the good retorts that I thought about after the fact at that momnent, like, "Didn't your mother teach you to turn your hearing aid up?" or something equally as rude. If only I had the witty mind that Veronica Mars has?? I was again ready to cry at this point (dang, I am pathetic.), yet managed to keep it together.

So, back to the sick thing, Jackson has not eaten anything really since Wednesday. He will drink, but he snubbs everything that we offer him--even ice cream, fruitsnacks and candy. He is really not feeling well when he does that. His cousin is visiting across the street and he wants to play with her so badly. He will say, "Tummy feel better. Pay with gace (play with Grace)." I have to tell him no, not until his cough goes away. It makes him so sad. I think I will take him to Target today just to do something outside of the house. Maybe we will find a new movie or something since that is all we are doing these days. We took him to see the horsies down by my grandma's and he loved that. It is hard because we usually go to my grandma's a lot, but my SIL is visiting with Grace and her 7 week old baby, so we can't risk passing germs around. And, Douglas and I feel crummy too.

On a happy note, I finally finished and washed Jackson's quilt. I am working hard to get his room together so I can start on a nursery for new baby girl. I just need to find some tie backs for his curtains (I actually found some at Pottery barn, but I am waiting for them to go on sale.) and I need to paint and hang some letters for his name (I thought of a cute, unique way to hang them, we will see if it all pans out). And then the rest can just come as it will. I want to frame a bunch of pictures, but that will take some time. If anyone spots some navy or red sheets, let me know. They are really hard to find.

Well, my buddy just woke up crying so I need to go play mommy. I had planned on showering while he slept, but that didn't happen. He asks to go nite nite every hour or so, though, so I will get it done sometime.

Happy #2 Mr. J.

These are not quite what I envisioned when we set out to take Mr. J's two year old pics, but really, with a two year, you take what you can get. Not to mention the fact that I cut of his feet in nearly every picture. Whatever.

But, I do think I have a darling little boy. It took four of us to get the 8 or so decent pictures that we got. Too bad I don't have that type of team when I go shoot for others.

Can't believe he is going to be two. Makes me sort of sad. They don't stay little. (and they get kind of bratty, but oh so funny). Jackson loved his baboons for these pictures.
