oh what a cutie...

we cut jackson's hair yesterday and he was covered so we went to hose him off. I think this picture is hilarious with his little clenched butt cheeks. I the other you can see that he got a green marker when I was working on the computer. I caught him before he colored my silk lampshade, but not before he had colored himself, shirt and the couch. What a stinker. A shout wipe took it right out of the couch and I let him sport his new look the rest of the day. He loves to wear this green necklacw and always has to hold the keys when we go to his Grams.

it stinks being a grown up.

so douglas and I have decided that it is time to make the plundge and get a new car. My accord has been such a great pal, but she has a lot of miles 163,000 and all the minor things have already gone wrong. All that is left are major things and we figure we should get rid of it before that happens. We have been researching and can't believe what a new car costs. It makes us sick to think about throwing away that kind of money, yet it is a necessary evil I guess.Plus, with the price of gas, nothing gets good enough gas mileage. What to do.

I have so many pictures to proof right now, plus my website to work on and a book for my gma. I don't enjoy the post processing of pics. I love to take them and then they often times just sit on the computer until something motivates me to play with them. My website is going to make me do that and so I am putting it off.

Jackson has hit the whiney stage of life and boy is it trying. I try to ignore it and hope it will end soon. Also, he is so funny--still obsessed with nemo and now when he watches it (which I do try to limit) he will start chanting or screaming or saying "mine, mine, mine" about a minute before those parts happen. It is so funny. And boy, can he scream like a girl. It is loud and high pitched. Funny kid.

my little bro.

Well, Greg has officially hit his one year mark. Can't believe it. It sure goes by fast when it isn't you :). He just sent this picture today and I thought I would share it with the world. We miss him. Too bad I can smoke him at cards.

family pics

We had Sarah (my cousin) take some family photos for us while we were at the cabin. Now I know why I have put it off for so long---Jackson is the biggest stinker. The good light comes out after his bedtime and he HATES to look at the camera. All the pictures she took and there are only a few that we all look decent in. I know I am picky, but really one of us looked crummy in each of them pretty much and Jackson rarely even glanced in the direction of the camera. I guess I will try again when the days shorten and JAckson is a little older. Who knows if that will even help.

What do you think? B&W or color?

A Day in the Life...

So, we are back to semi normal life. We met some friends for lunch at Cracker Barrel today and of course I left feeling sick because I ate too much. Actually, my big problem is that I drink too much before my meal comes out. After that event we ran by a tile store to look for tile for my backsplash. Jackson was grouchier than he hasever been at the store. He is always a little stinker, but this time it was bad. I put his little doggie backpack on that has a leash for a tail and we were just fine until he decided that he didn't want me to impede him from doing what he wanted. At that point he just flopped on the floor and threw an all out fit. It was kind of embarrassing, but try reasoning with an 18 month old. I have been reading this book lately that basically says that at that age all you can do is leave. I am too selfish for that though. I was all the way across town and I was going to get my tile. So, he just threw a fit for a while. I know it was my fault because I woke him from his morning nap to go to lunch. That is never a good idea.

Well, my kitchen is getting there. I paint one wall a night more or less. I have given up on painters tape and so I have to just have a steady hand and be patient. I am really happy with the brown I chose. It really warms up the room. After this room, however, I will need to take a break from painting. I am a little burnt out.

Not much more to report on our end.

Love this pic.

So, I didn't date Douglas until after his BYU football career was over, but I ran across this pic and loved it. This was taken with his friend Jimmy Young and Scott Jackson (who now plays for Tampa Bay). I think this pic is interesting because those who know Douglas know that he is a pretty big guy, but here he is smaller than all these other players. That is crazy to me.

On another note, I have been having a hard time sleeping and I get impatient waiting to fall asleep, so here I am blogging. I finally took all the stuff out of my kitchen so that I can paint it--hopefully in the next week or so.

I am heading to Vegas tomorrow for my cousin's baby shower. Iam not looking forward to the drive as I will be alone for it. I always have this fear that I will break down at night between Vegas and St. George and will be out of cell phone range. Stupid, I know, but why not worry about something that probobly won't even happen. I wouldn't be me if I didn't do that.

Not much more to say. JAckson is still crazy about Nemo. I try not to give in and let him watch it every day, but it is hard. He won't give up on it. His Grams has bought him all sorts of Nemo paraphanilia (?). Spoiled boy. He is talking much more every day and that is so much fun.

Well, off to give sleeping another try.

if i hear "nini" one more time...

so Jackson has hit the obsessed with random things stage. One of those things is "NINI" as he calls it, or Nemo as the rest of the world refers to it. We were at Smiths today grabbing a few things and all of a sudden it started (imagine whiney baby voice) Nini, nini, nini, nini, nini. I look all around trying to figure out what sparked that and finally I see it--a helium Nemo balloon. Cursed mylar balloon makers. Our peaceful shopping jaunt with KEnny G playing over head gone, I now accepted my fate--NINI for the next 15 minutes while we shopped.

Other obsessions: ELMO (EMO) and keys (always has to hold the keys walking to and from the car and occasionally whines it as I drive.

I love my sweet little boy, but I won't be sad when he exits this phase of toddlerhood (do they ever). Or could he at least say NINI in a non whiney way?? I don't think it is possible.

Oh, and the genius that I am signed him up for swimming at 10:30 am. Keep in mind that he goes down regularly for a nap at 10:00am. He has been pretty good all week until today when the hokey pokey sent him over the edge. HE is now peaceful sleeping (thank heavens) and hopefully will feel happy for our afternoon playdate. We have been going non stop for days and I will be so happy for my little get away this weekend. He is also getting at least two of his molars poor thing.

Crazy as ever here. I just picked up my paint for my kitchen...cobble brown. I will post when it is done.
