I am just cranky.
That is all there is to it. I am hot, tired, uncomfortable and cranky. I wish this baby would come.

Like Father, Like Son
So, Douglas took J on his first hike yesterday and J loved it! According to Douglas Jackson kept saying, "this is a BIG hike." and was totally independent the whole time. He crawled in to caves and hiked up hills. Sometimes if the hike was a little tough he would tell Douglas and my Dad, "I can't do it." They would assure him that he could and he would say, "I can do it." He is one tough little buddy and has so little fear of anything.
That scares me a little :).
p.s. blogger can be a pain sometimes.

An apology.
So, I got made fun of for talking so directly about my cervix and dilation and what not. Sorry to all those I offended, but you may want to check back in about a month since really, this is my life.

my body is just not cooperating with me...
When I was prego with Jackson I was dilated to a 3 by now. This baby, that is a wonderful question and since the Dr. couldn't get to the opening of the cervix (not for lack of trying, let me assure you), there is no way to know. Of course, the fact that my cervix is still tucked way behing the baby's head isn't a good sign at all. The only thing in my favor at this point is that the baby's head is really low. Hopefully that will add a little pressure and speed things up. I have had minor contractions all week and nothing that would indicate that this baby is in any hurry to get here.
Oh, and my Dr. leaves town from June5-11th. Perfect huh. He said he will induce me before he goes, but unless I am quite ready, I am sort of against being induced. It is one of my weird philosophies that labor is just easier when you let it happen when it should. That may mean though that I make it all the way to my due date or beyond. Heaven forbid.
However, I am getting a lot done around here. I got my house all cleaned today including shampooing my stairs--a task that has been needed for way too long. I think I will spend some time now sewing since who knows when I will have time for that again.
I have a busy weekend planned. Today I have a birthday party for Anne's twins, tomorrow a birthday dinner for Sarah, Saturday is Douglas' birthday and Monday the infamous Weston Memorial Day party. And I work Tuesday--once more before the baby.
Has anyone else heard that the Gap is going out of business or merging with another company or something of that sort? This is what I hear. Wouldn't that be tragic?

It is lovely outside!
Well, I love the fact that it is somewhat cool outside today. I may actually make myself look presentable and take J to the park. Plus I have a million packages to mail. I am currently baking some bread and it smells delicious although my stomach has been a little off the last day. I spent yesterday afternoon, evening and night feeling sick and having many contractions. They were stronger than the normal ones I have, but I knew they weren't the real deal either. None the less, it finally motivated me (although D has been on my case about it for a good week) to pack some things. Not having gone into labor normally last time (my water broke and I went from no contractions to really painful ones) I am not quite sure what to expect. It was nice to have my water break because I knew that was it. This wondering what it will be like on baby #2 is kind of weird.
My nursery is done. Thank heavens. I need to take some pics and I may do that later. I will add photos and a few other wall decor and window treatment things later on, but for now, I love it.
Jackson has been a little easier to manage (knock on wood) lately although now he is in the throwing things stage. He has been in time out five times this morn for throwing things. I will even warn him and he does it anyway. Such a stinker. He has been an eansie (??sp) bit more agreeable today which is a miracle. Someone is looking down on me and realizes that I don't have the energy to deal with it right now.
Well, off to lay down a bit. I was up at 5am and that is about three hours too early for my body.

a good mom??
Sometimes I feel like I spend my time being grouchy with my child. No this, no that. Don't touch this. That bothers me. Do it again and you can go to time out, bed without reading books, no toys in the tub, no treats. I feel like such a meanie, but honestly, sometimes being a mother makes me grouchy. Or I should say, I chose to let mothering make me grouchy. I have been thinking about this the last few days. How do I change my paradigm? How do I pick and choose my battles when it all bothers me? How do I relinquish the control? How do I decide what is worth disciplining? I don't know, but something has to change because I feel grouchy all the time and I am at odds with my child all the time.
I just wish he wouldn't play with his hair after I comb it. Is that too much to ask?

okay, I admit I am a lazy blogger.
Maybe because no one ever comments and I feel unloved.
No really, life has just been crazy and stressful. Probobly for most people it would be cake, but with being a little anxiety ridden to start with, it gets pretty overwhelming. I am finally feeling somewhat on top of things and okay with having a baby in the next few weeks. The nursery is slowly getting there. The crib is almost all the way assembled, I have some things to hang up, carpets to clean, but really most of that stuff can be done quickly and even after the baby comes with little stress.
I am caught up with photography stuff (for now) which is such a great feeling. I love doing it, but it takes a lot of time and I was so afraid to get stuck with undone pics and a new baby and that would be crazy.
I got a cute new shelf to go by my front door. Douglas hung it yesterday and I love it. Nothing on it yet, but that will come.
Wow. My life is interesting. Jackson continues mastering "no". Often times he says it, thinks about what I had said and quickly changes it to a yep. He just assumes that he doesn't want anything I suggest. What a stinker. The days are getting hot which means we are spending more and more time inside. I have a hard time knowing what to do with him all day. Once my dear friend's pool warms up to a point that I can fathom getting in, we will have a new regular activity (whether she wants that or not). All in all, life is good. Busy, but good.

life is always crazy...
wouldn't you agree? Jackson has this new "trick" where he likes to pull off his diaper in his crib. If he pees in it, he just pulls his pants and diaper off and throws it on the floor. Almost every night we go in to find a little bare butt laying in his crib. And, he just pulls them off like his underware. I have scolded and scolded to no avail. Well, this morning I left him in his crib while I finished getting dressed for the day since I had my Dr. appt. and needed to be efficient. Something inside of me told me not to do it, but I did anyway. Well, I went in to check on him and he had pulled his diaper off again, but this time because it was poopy. There was poop everywhere. I don't think he actually played in it, but just pulling it off and moving it around was enough to spread it everywhere. Plus it was caked on him. I was so furious and feeling pressure to get going to my appt. I grabbed him out of his crib with clear instructions not to touch me and put him on a changing pad with clear instructions not to touch anything. He knew I was ticked because he didn't touch anything. Once I had bagged all the contaminated articles and thrown away a stuffed animal, I grabbed him under his arms and took him to the shower. It was disgusting and I am sort of at a loss as to what to do with him. I went and bought some PJs that snap and hope that might do the trick. We thought of duct taping his diaper on, but since he pulls it off like underware, that won't work. So, if any of you out there have a suggestion, please let me know. I am desperate.
On another note, I now have two upholstered gliding rockers and three ottomans in my living room.
When I got the first one, there was a tuck of fabric in the ottoman. So, I emailed the company. After two days and no response, I emailed Costco. Costco got back to me and told me that they were going to ship out another ottoman. Then, the next day the manufacturer emailed and said they would ship one out too. So, the one Costco ordered arrived, with the same defect. So, I thought, good thing the company is sending one too. Yesterday it arrived, except they sent the chair and the ottoman as well. They look great, but my understanding was that they would pick up the other chair at the same time. The delivery man said he had no instructions to do this, so he just left it. I emailed the company about it and got an email today that simply said, "donate it." Okay.
I think I will try to sell it and make some of my money back. Weird.
My goal is to have the baby's room (is it baby's or babies??) done by next Wednesday. I am feeling a little anxiety about the disorder in my house. I need to putty nail holes and paint and get all the junk out. I have one more two week break before I go to see the Dr. every week. Next appt is my strep test. I love that test.
So, the question now is, to nap or putty holes??

growing baby...
So, it is in fact a girl that is growing (very quickly) in my belly. I went back for another ultrasound today because on my last OB visit I was measuring a little small. Believe me, it is not because the baby is small. According to the ultrasound tech's measurements, my baby is already 5 pounds 7 ounces and that would put me at 35 weeks as opposed to 33.5. Of course, you still go by the LMP due date, but it was interesting to know that I will most likely not have a small baby. She easily identified girl parts and now I can get rid of the anxiety of having a pink room.
Speaking of which, my room is coming along quite nicely. I ordered the first bit of decor yesterday and I am getting excited. Douglas is almost done with the bead board and hopefully this weekend I can get the painting finished and breathe a little.
I went to the eye doctor today about my weird eye thing I have been having lately and he said it was probobly an optic migraine-nothing big, just annoying. Hopefully it will go away post baby.
I went to Costco today and bought some wrapping paper which means I can finally send off bday gifts from the last two months. How lame am I? I have not been on the ball in this arena.
I enjoyed the rain the last few days, but I will be happy to get some warm park days again. I am not taking J to storytime for a while. I finally decided that since I left totally and completely frustrated each time, it wasn't worth it. I will try again in maybe six months.

On a beautiful April day....
We had an Easter egg hunt that some friends from the ward organized. There were a lot of kids and I think Jackson enjoyed helping me hide the eggs more than find them. That's okay, he had fun and I love to be outside on nice days like today.
The dr. gave me the go ahead to ride my bike still (we will see if I still can). It needs to be cleaned up a bit, but we bought a bike trailer and I am excited to take J out. I think he will enjoy it. I think I will stick to whatever flat terrain that I can. I don't have it in me to go up any hills.
So I am starting to feel that pre-baby anxiety where you realize that it is coming soon and you still have sooooo much to do. Ahhhh. I know there is time after the baby, but I also realize that life takes a break for a while when you have a new baby. I just really want to have the baby's room put together. I got started on the crib bedding, but lately all my free time is spent editing pics. Plus, sometimes I wonder why I can't just get my act together and keep my house organized and neat. I try, but I guess I am not very efficient or consistent or something because I feel like it starts to eat me up again. The worst culprits--my desk and counter. I feel like they accumulate papers and stuff so fast.
J is doing great with potty training. He has the occasional accident, but all in all, he is a pro. He still tests me non stop and I am grateful that yesterday and today have been a little less painful with him. Some days I just don't know what to do. He is onery and I feel like I spend my time fighting with him. I hate it. Plus, he wants me to carry him, or will go limp noodle on me so I have to and it totally wears me out. I won't complain anymore, I just hope he passes this stage quickly.
Well, I need to download some pics from a session today. I hope I got some good ones. It is hard because I will think some are really cute, but you never know what the mom will think.
